We teamed up with Noisy House to document their impact on the Irish music industry. This series starts with an article and will continue with an audio podcast episode.
Since 2020, Noisy House has been lighting up the Irish music industry. Upstart acts and established musicians alike always seem to find their way back home to âThe Gaffâ. The Noisy House studio is fondly referred to as âThe Gaffâ by the artists who frequent the premises. Possibly due in part to the household names they assist via the mixing work done on site.Â
Itâs challenging to think of a promising Irish act that Noisy havenât worked with. Vocalists including Offica, Khaki Kid, Monjola, Erica Cody and Aby Coulibaly, Producers such as Moyo and Felix Joseph as well as Mix Engineers like Mark Ralph, just to name a few. This diverse cast gather under one roof and somehow manage to combine their immense talents seamlessly into art that we consume as listeners during our commute, workouts, and parties. Noisy and their collaborators are cooking up heat and listeners move like itâs a buffet.
Why The Fuck Do You Do Music?
A question you canât escape at The Gaff, is why musicians make tunes. The answers are typically interesting and not the least bit surprising. Whatâs shocking is how their dedication has become the norm as they perfect their craft. The artists attribute their obsession to the therapy, confidence, elation and passion that comes with making music. Representation is another aspect of music composition that excites artists. Some describe their love for music stemming from their younger years and in turn, they aspire to show the youth watching them, itâs possible to make it in the creative arts.

Crep Check
You canât pull up to the Stu with weak shoe game. In this workspace the uniform is drip. Studio etiquette and ambience may be the difference between a track being a hit or a skip.Â

The couch âCrep Checkâ is how we know for certain they brought the house down and whipped up a banger. This way, we get to see the artists we admire in a new light. Sure, theyâre great when theyâre jamming out on guitar and piano, but fans want to see them get fly too. No feelings were hurt in the making of those images. It just goes to show that Noisy can develop a positive working environment were ideas and personalities can thrive freely. Now it makes sense why these people donât miss.

Fire Brigade In the Mix
The authorities have been called to the area on several occasions when Noisy burn a CD for three particular songs. The fan service pulsing from these gems has put the fire brigade on red alert as the consumption reaches fever pitch. Each song differs only in melody and not their potential to give you goosebumps.Â
First up is the smooth ballad by Lucy Blue, âSee You LaterâââLive from the Goldfish Roomâ, which was mixed by Noisy House. Initially the listener is warmly greeted by a piano followed by strumming keys soon overlapped by a soothing voice whispering to your soul. The poignant blend of vocals and instruments are simultaneously soft and crispâââenough to leave you speechless. The fire warden of the building has told Noisy to take it easy, but they canât seem to help it.
You would think that with a name like Noisy House, there would be only noise complaints to worry about. Apparently when Monjolaâs âSmileâ mixing was completed, the building had to be evacuated because Noisy wanted all the smoke that day. Health and Safety protocol required visitors to temporarily leave the Studio to air the room outâââimagine. That was the exodus of the story. The genesis of what happened can be heard on the track. The Moyo infused booming bass, drums and vibrant hi-hat that compel you to tap your foot to the rhythm. Then Noisy mix of all that in addition to some boom bap bars, high-pitched ad-libs, playful vocals and you have a stone-cold hit.

It doesnât end there. Then came Aby Coulibalyâs âLong Nightâ. Iâll be the first to admit Iâve played this song an obscene number of times. The same culprits are to blame. Moyo for the production and Noisy for the mixing. I was told that when mixing finished, the fire warden emptied a whole fire extinguisher at The Gaff. Why? Well, when you have that hi-hat again, drums, bass, keyboard synth and a vocalist with Abyâs rangeâââanything is possible. Not only are high pitched vocals used here but so are low pitched ones on key moments on verses. Listening to the sound travel from left to right and vice versa in earphones, nearly made me fall to my knees like Lil Durk in that âChiraqimonyâ video. Iâm not sure whatâs next for Noisy House but if itâs anything like what weâve heardâââhave the Fire Brigade on standby.
